Spellbound Matchbox

My witchy creation for Vintage Dragonfly's Halloween Matchbox Swap

A spellbound burial box complete with spells, skulls, eyeballs, potion bottles, a broom and a witch's hat.
The leather hat was made using this tutorial

I was a witch
and again I shall be.
I shall lie silent
'til once again, the moon
does beckon me.

 (I really should consider becoming a poet--hahahahaha!)

And, of course, the requisite goodies included in the package.
 Isn't Halloween the best?
I'll have my others ready to give away later this week!

New Halloween Swap!

My first matchbox swap too!

Ihttp://vintagedragonfly.blogspot.com/2014/09/another-halloween-swap-free-halloween.html

Halloween is absolutely, hands-down my FAVORITE holiday.
Halloween is my favorite colors, it's creepy, it's vintage, it's a little steampunky, it's just a little bit for the not-right-in-the-head group...Halloween is the bomb!

I've got my work cut out for me
There are many gorgeous examples for inspiration (or a breakdown of self-confidence) on Pinterest.

I've got several ideas in my head and I love making Halloween stuff so much that I'm going to make more than one and then give the extra(s) away, complete with goodies inside.

Look for the giveaway in October.
How does that sound?!

When I Make Paper Cakes (and a necessary shooting)

I sent Cake too!
These little cake boxes were SOOO frustrating for me!
I am happy with the results, but my goodness, was this a project!
Altering with paper is not a natural for me.
I'm not trying to be self-deprecating...it really was hard.
I spent hours upon agonizing hours creating these.
I created a snowy top with Styrofoam that I cut down to fit the top of the box, glued and then carved
 ...Shoot me now!
To hide my carving, patching scars, I covered the snow layer with mica snow glitter.

Keep in mind that each of these steps requires a FULL drying.
Really! The Styrofoam will just fall off if you don't wait for the glue to FULLY dry.
...If you didn't shoot me before, shoot me now for sure!
The houses are 1 inch tall.
and embellished with little pearls and mica.
...make sure that bullet went in my body

I created my own little teeny poinsettias by cutting up larger flowers and remaking.
Teeny, weeny trees are embellished with micro beads adhered with glue and a toothpick.
...let the wound fester.
I then backed the houses and snowflake half with a HAND CUT and SCORED rosette (really would like a Tim Holz die!).

OH! Don't forget to glue a sequin on to the rosette :)
...Okay, you can resuscitate me now, but dont' let me get into this situation ever again!

Cake For Moi

I received my first piece of Christmas Cake yesterday!
A wonderful little cake box filled with bits and baubles from Marie at Artful Curiosities!

Not to mention a bag of extra goodies
(how did she know that I'm into the snowflakes this year?)
and a Christmas Cracker that I refuse to crack open until Christmas!

Happy Day for me!
Thank you Marie!
