Valentines Cacti

Happy Valentine's Day!

For my little loves I made felt heart cacti.
A little weird, I admit, but it's along usual lines for me.  Last year I made them voodoo dolls.
Pattern is from the March Mollie Makes

You could go to their blog and download the free templates for Issue 10 and kinda figure it out (like sewing the 3 parts to each other and covering up stitches with flowers and hearts) from this picture if you don't have the magazine. Just a thought :)

Have a happy day!

Valentine's and Sunshine! Boing Boing Boing!

So happy with my sun (real sun too, not the clip art kind) shiny shining down on me today.

Serotonin is RUSHING into my nerve synapses...ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Not so sunny last week, so Addie and I decided to cheer up with some Valentine's decorating.  Do all those tissue squares and glue remind you of elementary days?

Definitely cheered her up!

Me?  Well, it was fun to do something with Addie, but sunshine and chocolate really help in the happy dept.

Here's my show-off.  Elementary school tissue decorating.
Take a square of tissue, wrap it around a pencil eraser, dip in glue and stick to whatever you're decorating.
Fun, fun, fun.

Addie wanted to make take her own picture, but she's at swim practice, so she'll show off later this week.

Donut Snow Friends

My camera is still out of commission.  Now it's the charger.  I can't find it anywhere (I have a feeling it's at Kaely's dad's house, but that's a whole 'nother story)!  I have one on order, though, so soon I will have my very own wonderful, top-notch, professional quality pictures up.

 Well,  I'll have pictures anyway.

Fortunately for me, my girl friend Janel made these super cute donuts that she said I could show off for you.

Arent' they adorable?!  They taste good too!

I facebooked the link for these snowman cuties from Red Couch Recipes yesterday.  She already had the donuts, jimmies, and sprinkles, so she ran out and got some orange slices for noses.

For a finders fee I got to sample some.  Cute, but not too cute to eat.

This weekend Janel and I are going to try making Painted XOXO's !

Janel's got the jig-saw and she's ready to use it.  I'm the paint supplier.

Valentine's Gifts

Camera and computer are comunicating again.  Joel was right, I clicked when I shouldn't have clicked.  I will try to be better in the future.

Addie and I created some homemade valentines for family...

These are mine~not quite as fancy as the one I made for the house

Addie's!  She did most of the work herself~I made the crepe paper rosettes and did the hot glueing, but design and most of the application was her.   Her Dad and sister ended up with some really special valentines!

Lucky me, I got a 1lb. box of dark chocolate See's from Joel.  Yummmm!  Location of box is now TOP SECRET!

Addie-pops

For Addie's class valentines we made white chocolate dipped Oreo pops from How Does She?

Very easy to make, but we did find that flat popsicle sticks worked better than regular lollipop sticks.  We had a few breakage issues with the rounded sticks.

Then we packaged them up, tied them with ribbon and printed out Valentine's cards from here.

I wish we would have taken more photos, but we were just having too much fun to !

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Vintage-y Valentine

I'm running a little behind in my February Artist Class  due to jury duty (that's my story, anyway), but I finally got to project one, a vintage look Valentine...

I was supposed to use a bird, but mine were ugly and there really aren't any craft stores here, so I used a butterfly instead.  I dowloaded the butterfly from Agence Eureka's flickr page of Vintage Butterflies--I just added some gold glitter to match the Valentine...

I almost didn't do the project because it's practically Valentine's Day already.  Even if it's only out for a week I think it looks pretty--definitely worth the effort.

Valentine Houses & Jury Duty

I was so excited to get my blog up and running and then I was summoned for jury duty, so I haven't had a lot of time to craft or post.

I did have a few moments to start on Valentine's Decorating, stating with a wee village.

I found these paper mache' Christmas houses at Craft Warehouse for only 50 cents last week and turned them into these lovelies....

(Looks like I forgot to put a Sweetheart on one!)

I painted them in Valentines colors and added some microfine clear glitter after apply the second paint coat.
I then hot glued a Sweetheart candy hard to each house to cover the star.

I only had to pedastools to put them on, but I found some cute martini glasses that I picked up at the thrift store that were perfect for the job.  Added some extra Sweethearts and there you have it.
