Incredible

Kids are amazing.
I was on Craft Gossip and saw a link this fun project from Craft Your Style
stitch january 2013
Image from Craft Your Style

It's an adorable calendar to stitch.
...on paper.  Kinda like those super fun learn-to-sew stitching animal shapes for kids, but way cooler.
Free pattern and printout WITH instruction on beginning stitches.
Not just instruction...pictures...good pictures.
I can't wait to share it with Addie!

And Kelly, the author/creator, is...
A teen.
She blogs about DIY for teens.
(After browsing through many a page, I can report that it's a great blog for 40 year old DIYers too)

Check it out HERE.  You'll be amazed and feel a little like you could improve your own blogging...in a good way, of course!  LOL!

Furry Monster Cupcake

Last month's free pattern was a monster cupcake by Chelsea from Love & A Sandwich.

The original template featured a meaner, more felty, plain-old sprinkle cupcake with a grumpy cherry on top.

That just didn't suit me, so I changed mine into a furry, dweeb, google-eyed, sparkly sprinkle of a cupcake with a heart cherry on top.

Believe it or not, fun fur isn't that hard to embroider.
Just use all 6 strands and go around the raw edge with a little fray check and it works really well!

Thank you Kaely for letting mom sew a cupcake on your jean jacket :)!!

Iron Craft #8! I did it!

Eleventh Hour entry to Iron Craft!

I live in a, "Pretty little valley in the center of the state where the clouds are blown from the sun.  There's a pretty little valley in the center of the state, it's _________, Washington!"  (Words from my hometown's song that was written by the elementary principal).  WINDY is the key word when it comes to our town.
So I embroidered a wind cloud and windies onto some grey stretch velour.

Warning:  Do anything with stretch velour is very difficult.  Your first impulse may be to use it because it's pretty, but make sure you're prepared for a chore.
Crossed my fingers that the invisible marker would come off...it did, but with some water assistance.
I backed it with some pretty eyelet and added some vintage lace that I managed to get my hands on in a swap.
Tried to model it myself.  Not easy.

Had Kaely model it...much better.
Yay, me for finally getting an Iron Craft done.
